Luggage & baggage rules
Every airline differs, but the principles don't. A third of group excess-baggage fees come from misunderstanding what the ticket includes.
Weights and sizes
- Checked bag: usually 20–23 kg, and on low-cost carriers often paid separately.
- Cabin trolley: typically 7–10 kg and around 55x40x20 cm.
- Weigh every bag at home — airport excess costs several times the pre-paid rate.
Liquids and carry-on
- Liquids in the cabin: containers up to 100 ml in one transparent 1-litre bag.
- Power banks and lithium batteries in the cabin only, never in checked bags.
- Keep medication and prescriptions with you, not in the hold.
Not allowed
- Gas, fuel, large aerosols, flammables and sharp objects in the cabin.
- E-cigarettes in the cabin only, never used in flight.
- Check destination rules — some countries ban food, meat or plants.
Smart packing
- Roll clothes instead of folding and save about a third of the volume.
- Packing cubes by day or clothing type cut down on searching.
- Leave 15% free space for what you buy on the way back.
Tip: send the group the exact airline's baggage rules, not a rule of thumb — a 3 kg gap turns into a desk fee.
